Butter London Eyeshadow, Blush, Nail Polish and Paraben-Free Makeup Review

Pictures, reviews and swatches of Butter London paraben free makeup including velvety eyeshadows, talc-free blushes, healthy nailpolishes and Lippy lipsticks.

This was my first Christmas without requesting makeup as a Christmas gift :). In the past I’ve always wanted at least an eye shadow set (I had amassed all Urban Decay Naked palettes), but as my ingredient choices have become more picky, has have my sensitive skin, I realized talc is an irritant.

Butter London is a London-insprired American brand started about 10 years ago. You can easily find most of their products at Ulta and  they are made without parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum, sodium lauryl sulfate, phthalates, BHA, and triclosan.

Over time my Butter London makeup collection was topped off with one of their beauty clutch sets last Christmas. This is awesome cosmetics packaging at its finest: you can exchange the palette compartments in an out. I love the shadows in the clutch but unfortunately their eye shadows contain talc 🙂 (if it irritates you too try one of my favorite talc-free eye shadow brands)

Lucky for me, there blushes don’t! I love their Tiger Lily blush – it reminds me of a war, Too Faced blush (with talc) I’ve been trying to replace.

The eye shadows are like powdery velvet, but alas the talc laden formula doesn’t work for me. Just like my Tarte Tartelette In Bloom and Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Tartelette shadows.

I’ve also been reminiscing about Too Faced palettes and holiday collections like 2015’s Le Grand Chateau including Better Than Sex mascara.

I was first introduced to their colorful nail polishes by my friend Erika (of Walls Wonders Candles). Butter London become popular for their 3-Free formula but now they are 8-Free, free of 8 yucky ingredients: Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, DBP, Toluene, Camphor, Ethyl Tosylamide, Xylene, TPHP

My favorite product are their lippy liquid lipsticks. They are really more like long-lasting, high pigment glosses. I love “Dahling” (and got my mom hooked as well). They aren’t as “clean” as my Bite Beauty high pigment pencils, but they are nourishing with vitamin E and shea butter and have just the lightest vanilla addition. There are a lot of ingredients but these chemicals actually have mostly a 1 rating from EWG skindeep database (except for the preservative Phenoxyethanol). “Fairy Lights” and a limited edition “Goss” have been my favorite Butter London nail polishes over the years.
