I work in digital advertising, so it feels very weird to be at home, not working very long days during cyber week like year’s past! I’m so enjoying nourishing my new little one, but it was also weird not having the time to take advantage of as many cyber week deals I wait and save for all year.
I also have a lot less time to take care of my hair – I got a shorter hair cut before the baby came which has helped. But I also rely on products that leave my hair looking and feeling good in the likelihood I won’t have time to blow dry it. (which of course only happens once a week now if I’m lucky 🙂 )
One brand I love that has helped my #momhair is John Masters Organics. They had a great Black Friday sale last year, so this review is long overdue. Overall I love the brand, but they have so many organic hair care options it can be overwhelming! These shampoos have a decent lather, making it a great transition brand if you are used to conventional shampoo.
John Masters Organics Deep Scalp Purifying Serum
Before getting pregnant I had frequent issues with dandruff and dry skin. It got better over time as I started adding more coconut water to my water, but it was bad in the winter months so I was in constant search of more healthy ingredient treatments. This John Masters Organics scalp treatment is a better, cleaner alternative to the super decadent Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Scalp Treatment. My husband and I used to love the Paul Mitchell deep hair and scalp treatment many years ago – the tingling can be addictive, but it’s really too scented for us to use now. Unlike the Paul Mitchell version, the John Masters Organics deep scalp treatment doesn’t contain tea tree oil, fragrance or PEGs.
John Masters Organics Herbal Cider Hair Clarifier & Color Sealer
I know I know…why would I pay $15 for an apple cider hair rinse when I could make my own? Well firstly I have made my own many times and I got this John Masters version on sale. Truthfully, I love this apple cider vinegar based hair rinse and I will definitely by some again! I must not have had the correct ratios in the rinses I made because they were a bit to harsh. This organic hair rinse leaves my hair and scalp feeling great. My acupuncturist turned me onto apple cider rinses a few years ago – they are incredible for balancing the scalp and hair. My hair feels clarified, conditioned and more volume just in one use! The herbal additions of chamomile, green tea, rosemary and other flower extracts help to reduce the initial apple cider vinegar scent – but all dissipate once you rinse with water.
John Masters Organics Zinc & Sage Shampoo with Conditioner
Are you sensing a pattern here? I really had a dry scalp problem so I was excited to find an organic shampoo with zinc that could help my scalp. This is my second favorite organic and natural shampoo, right below Innersense hair care. I love that it combines shampoo and conditioner to save me time. It’s an awesome clarifying shampoo that doesn’t leave my hair feeling dry – definitely more moisturizing than Acure clarifying shampoo. Zinc, sage and amino acids are the major stars in this organic shampoo. It has a pleasant natural scent from the herbal ingredients. It does not smell like traditional dandruff shampoo but does use willow bark extract, a natural form of salicylic acid.
John Masters Organics Honey and Hibiscus Shampoo and Reconstructor
This thick, nourishing and strengthening line from John Masters is my husband’s favorite shampoo and conditioner. He used to be a fan of Neutrogena Triple Moisture shampoo and conditioner. Hyaluronic acids, honey, and soy proteins comprise this light but intense shampoo and conditioner. If you have dry hair, this would make a great daily shampoo. Overall, these formulas are too (naturally) scented for me, but sometimes I do use the reconstructor as a mask.
