I originally got a sample/travel size of this brightening treatment and I thought I loved it. It seemed to work – and maybe it did lighten my dark spots a bit – so I bought the full size version.
In addition, when I started using the sample I had only reduced about half of the fragrances in my daily life so far.
Flash forward months later, I’m in Sephora and I spot the beautiful bright orange star-shaped box! I remembered the product with rose-colored glasses, was wood by the “no parabens” description on Sephora’s website, and I happily waited in the small-size wonder product gauntlet for checkout.
Boy does Glamglow love to trademark and name their beauty tech! TEAOXI, WhiteEnergy™, Flashlucent™, Reflectrum™. Sounds fancy! This brightening product has a long list of ingredients (even diamond power!) but the one that bothers me most is the fragrance (parfum). There are so many thoughts and scary theories about fragrances out there, but for a quick understanding of the potential dangers check out this TIME magazine health content.
While it does have some positive aspects, it was not a great melasma treatment solution for my face. I know I shouldn’t expect miracles with these types of products, however. My dermatologist reminds me it is VERY DIFFICULT to treat melasma so I try to be patient.
My Review: 2/5 Stars
The Good:
- Product is creamy and not too thick.
- Improve skin dullness
The Not-So-Good
- The added fragrance is so intense I couldn’t fall asleep if I applied this at night. Artificial fragrance cannot be good for you in any way.
- It’s not powerful enough to treat melasma. No results seen after days of use or within their 3 day initial regimen.
