I LOVE the feeling of fresh, smooth and clean skin after a round of good exfoliation. But, I also don’t want to use any product that will be too physically or chemically harsh on my skin. I want to break up the melasma and hyperpigmentation, but not aggravate the vitiligo on my face.
Remember when we were teenagers and everyone use to use St. Ives Apricot scrub? I like that feeling, but I definitely can’t use an exfoliating or facial scrub that harsh.
Luckily, we can use Acure brightening facial scrub! And it’s made from organic ingredients! I had seen this brand before online and Whole Foods. Now my husband and I use most of Acure Organic’s products.
My friend Anna recommended this product to me 3 years ago and I’ve been using it ever since!
Hasn’t it completely removed my melasma? No. Is it making it less noticeable? I’m pretty sure! It’s definitely a star player in my skin care routine. I use it either once a week or once every 2 weeks. I definitely recommend this face scrub – 2 thumbs up, 5 stars!

Acure Brightening Facial Scrub Product Claims
- “85% saw a decrease in pigmentation” – That’s a pretty bold claim. Apparently this is basted on 30 women, 35-65 years old for 56 days. Not sure if they used it 56 days straight. I don’t think my skin can handle that!
- Acure recommends using this scrub 3 times a week for best results. That’s probably fine for normal skin, but mine is already a little dry and I don’t want to stress my skin out so I don’t use it as often.
How does this compare to St. Ives Apricot Scrub?
- The sea kelp and lemon peel in the Acure brightening facial scrub is definitely more gentle than the walnut shell powder in the St. Ives apricot scrub.
- St. Ives apricot scrub has a 5 rating on EWG’s skindeep database – due to added fragrance and methylisothiazolinone. Acure brightening facial scrub is only a 2! (the lower the better)
