Over the past few months I’ve tried two different “radiance” serums based on lemongrass essential oils, and the verdict is in on best performance!
Cover FX Custom Infusion Drops C + Lemongrass Radiance Review
Overall I’m a fine of Cover FX. First they make great makeup that in my opinion is a better alternative to Dermablend. Yes the makeup can be heavy but it’s very full coverage and talc-free, paraben and phthalate free. And normally doesn’t smell to fragrant.
I thought the custom enhancer drops were just OK – or I’m just not sophisticated enough to use them well. I’ve had the most luck with “Sunkissed” Cover FX custom enhancer drops – it makes a pretty decent liquid bronzer.
I was excited to try these new serum infusion drops and got a mini from Sephora as a reward. The “radiance” formula for me was the way to go. I’m sure the hydrating formula would be good to try too, but calming and anti-aging aren’t really my issues right now.
Cover FX Custom Infusion Drops Radiance Ingredients:
- Phenyl Trimethicone – seems to be a type of silicone
- Squalene – plant or animal sourced lipid
- Balanites Roxburghii Seed Oil – oil from an evergreen plan
- Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil
- Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate – Vitamin C
- Cymbopogon Flexuosus Oil – Lemongrass
- Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Peel Oil
- Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract – Bilberry fruit
- Tocopheryl Acetate – Vitamin E acetate
- Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil
- Citral – scent
- Limonene – scent
This serum is totally fine. My main issue with it is I tried it after Odacite Lemongrass radiance serum.
Odacite Green Tea + Lemongrass Radiance Concentrate Serum Review
I received this Odacite radiance serum in my January 2017 Art of Organics monthly natural beauty box. I was a little skeptical of course because I’m very sensitive to scents, including essential oils. I’m trying to wean my way into using them more (I use them on wool dryer balls most days).
The lemongrass essential oil in this radiance serum is pleasant but also intense. Luckily it disappears after a minute or two (learn more about scents in the eco green organic beauty world). I started using it in the mornings – mostly directly on my skin but sometimes mixed in with my moisturizer. I think this Odacite lemongrass serum in addition to Maya Chia Super Couple chia oil definitely helped to improve my skin tone, dark spots and melasma without harsh chemicals. And keep in mind Odacite actually has a separate serum set to target hyperpigmentation (more on that in a follow up post 🙂 ).
I love that the Odacite radiance serum has fewer ingredients too – only organic camellia seed oil, non-GMO vitaman E, and organic lemongrass essential oil.
The volume is smaller, but the Odacite Green Tea + Lemongrass serum is about $10 less. And because of the mostly organic ingredients, results and instantly radiantly slightly dewy finish, I would definitely recommend the Odacite radiance serum over the Cover FX custom infusion drops (plus it’s a great way to get to know an awesome organic beauty brand!).
