#ShopLocal San Diego: En Concordia Home, Gifts and Beauty Review

Shop local in San Diego. My review and pictures of my shopping trip to En Concordia home decor, natural beauty and gifts in Point Loma San Diego. They sell Herbivore Botanicals.

Going through my files, I realized I have a long overdue post about a San Diego gift shop that sells natural beauty products: En Concordia in Point Loma.

I have fond memories of this cute little shop, because I first visited a few days after I found out I was pregnant earlier this year. It was a Saturday and we finally had some head space after a long work week to take in the news. We were running a few errands that day and stopped into En Concordia. I remember taking a pause while shopping and thinking “I’m pregnant. I’m actually pregnant right now. I’m walking around, in a store, and I’ve got this tiny life inside of me.”

This store is adorable and offers a variety of goods and gifts: gourmet items, home decor, bar accessories, pots, plants and seeds and my favorite, natural beauty! They are one of a few stores in town that sell Herbivore Botanicals – I bought my friend some soap and bath salts for her birthday.

My En Concordia Haul:

Youth to the People Age Prevention Firm and Brighten Serum Review

I really like Youth to the People beauty if it weren’t for the retinyl palmitate in the cleanser and cream. I was so excited to find this kale-powered and hyaluronic acid vitamin C serum locally here at En Concordia so I could try it in person. This very gentle, fast-absorbing serum uses lactic acid, citric acid, malic acid and Vitamin C as brightening agents. It also contains something called Tripeptide 5 to increase collagen. I use this a lot during the day before I put on makeup because it is so light.

I can’t exactly tell if its made a huge difference on my dark spots, melasma and hyperpigmentation since I use so many products over time and don’t use this consistently enough. But if you are looking to try the Youth to the People line, I recommend this age prevention serum. I love that this brand is fragrance free, vegan and doesn’t test on animals. Its also made in California!

Apoterra Organic White Clay Brightening Mask Review

En Concordia was my first introduction to Apoterra. I’m always on the lookout for facial brightening treatments for my dark spots and melasma so I picked up their clay brightening mask (even though I was already so mask rich).  This kaolinite based clay mask uses licorice root and lemon peel to brighten skin tone and chamomile and yogurt to soothe (the lactic acid in yogurt also exfoliates). My face feels softer but not too try after each use. I would classify this as a very gentle brightening treatment – this is great for regular maintenance and self-care time. This is a great clay mask for sensitive skin. I like to mix it with Farmaesthetics complexion tonic to form a paste and apply. Looking forward to trying more products from this gluten-free brand!

Areaware Fauna Organic Cotton Golden Retriever Pillow Review

I couldn’t pass it up when I saw this adorable Golden Retriever screen-printed organic pillow. Its totally frivolous, I know, but we love our fur baby golden and this pillow looks a lot like here. We also like watching the irreverent comedy Difficult People and we love that Julie has the Basset Hound version of this pillow too 🙂

I also love a good balsamic vinegar for healthy low hypoglycemic cooking! I couldn’t pass up this yummy bottle from Stonehouse California.
